Fly Fishing Reels: Henschel Fly Reels
Made in Germany to the highest standards, Henschel reels are superb saltwater and freshwater fly fishing reels. Available in a wide variety of finishes, we would strongly recommend the standard Black & Silver finish for use in saltwater. There are sizes to takes lines from size 1 to size 16 together with large amounts of backing where needed. They carry the manufacturers 30 year guarantee to the registered first owner - against faulty materials and bad workmanship. The
reels are available in 3 different styles, direct drive,
anti reverse and a dual-action. The direct-drive enables
pressure to be put on a fish as there is no clutch to
slip; anti-reverse leaves the handle stationary as the
fish runs, but the clutch may well slip if extra pressure
is needed to control a large fish; Dual action combines
the best of these - no rotating handle to injure unwary
knuckles, yet as soon as the handle is turned to retrieve
line extra pressure is available to control the fish just
as if you had a direct drive. In
addition the reels are available with a progressive foot.
This reel foot brings the weight of the reel forward
closer to the casting hand. The improvement in balance and
feel is quite significant, especially in the larger size
reels - or the smaller rods.
The progressive foot adds 4gm. to the above weights.
