In addition, the body and spool have been trimmed to leave only the necessary structure of the reel - the dual ring frame - for the lightest possible weight with incredible strength.

Already one of the smoothest, most adjustable and durable designs when incorporated in our standard reel models, this drag inherent qualities are amplified by the Large Arbor Reel design rendering incredibly linear adjustments and minimum start-up resistance to allow you to fish fine tippets with confidence and still have big-fish stopping power. The large arbor reel adds a double housing around this proven mechanism for maximum durability and protection of the internal parts. The drag is easily reversible without tools or removing any parts for right or left hand operation.

The position of the reel mechanisms in the reel body place the center of gravity directly under the rod. The reel foot is slightly canted to align the center of gravity with the wrist and forearm. This feature considerably reduces fatigue. Further enhancing the ergonomics of the Marryat large arbor reel is a handle that is just the right diameter and length to be comfortable when grasped yet not so large as to entangle your line or hang on your clothing. A single knurled screw can be easily removed with your fingers to change spools. The drag is operated by an easily grasped knob that is quite streamlined in appearance but perfectly shaped to allow the finest adjustments with no fiddling.
